What to do right now
A few things matter in the first hour.
- Assume any wire touching the tree is live. Call City Utilities or your power company first.
- Do not try to pull the tree off the roof yourself. Weight can shift and the roof can drop.
- Take photos of the damage from several angles for your insurance claim.
- Call your homeowners insurance to open a claim.
- Call us for the removal and we will coordinate the timing with your adjuster if needed.
How we handle a tree on a house
We lift the tree off the structure in sections using rigging or a crane so nothing else gets crushed on the way down. Once the weight is off, we tarp the opening to keep rain out until your roofer can get there.
We document what we do with photos and a written invoice, which most insurance companies ask for.
Storm season in the Ozarks
Springfield gets hit from every direction: spring thunderstorms with straight line winds, the occasional tornado, and ice storms that snap limbs all over town. After a big event, we work the calls that involve homes, cars and blocked access first.
Questions people ask us
Does homeowners insurance pay for tree removal?
When a tree damages a covered structure like your house or garage, most policies cover removal from the structure, often with a cap. A tree that falls in the yard without hitting anything is usually not covered. Check your own policy for the details.
Do you charge more for emergency work?
After-hours work does cost more because of the crew and equipment needed on short notice. We give you the price before we start.
